Botox Therapy

Botulinum toxins are some of the most researched drugs in the world and are now used for hundreds of different therapies.  Botulinum toxins (Botox, xeomin) is also approved by the FDA to treat a wide range of problems, such as chronic migraines, eye muscle disorders, and muscle stiffness.  Professionally trained and certified dentists, such as Dr. Popescu, are able to utilize botulinum therapy as part of a treatment plan for TMJ issues and migraines. TMJ disorders are located in the tempro-madibular joint and are also known as TMD issues.  The temporo-mandibular joint is responsible for movement during chewing, talking, eating, and swallowing.  Issues to the joint can make muscle movement difficult and cause pain to the jaw, ears, and neck.

Botulinum toxins are extremely effective at relieving the jaw tension and allowing the muscles to properly engage.  The treatment is non-invasive, non-surgical, and usually takes less than 30 minutes. Following a thorough consultation, Dr. Popescu will determine the number of injections needed, review the injection sites, and go over after-care, and suggest follow-up appointments to be scheduled as needed.
